Essential Information for Current Students

Introduction to email & OnePort

Upon becoming a part of the UNC Asheville community each student is given a UNC Asheville email account and a special account called an OnePort account. These accounts will be established once your application is received and you are registered for the class. You will  generally receive your username and student ID number about 2-3 weeks from the time the application is received..  Your email address is "username"@unca.edu.

The OnePort is a student’s direct connection to services offered by UNC Asheville. Such services include: Making payments online, checking midterm and final grades, and requesting official transcripts from the university.  For your first log in you will set your password using your date of birth YYYYMMDD (i.e. January 1, 1989 would be 19890101).
**Note: The university does not keep your password on ANY record. Lost passwords cannot be supplied by UNC Asheville.

Moodle

Moodle is an online service that links you to your class. It offers ways to get in touch with fellow class mates as well as a calendar of events, a discussion board, a real time chat option, and a fast link to resources. If your course is partially or totally online, Moodle is the course management system you will be using.  To log in, use the same username and password you are using for OnePort.   You will be able to access your course materials via Moodle by the first day of the course.

Online Course Evaluations

Checking your UNC Asheville e-mail is important at all times but we especially want to hear from you on the end of course evaluations. One solution is to log into your UNC Asheville email and forward e-mails to an account you check regularly to avoid missing these important communications.
